The Virginia Hills Playground was rebuilt in 1994 thanks to the efforts of the Playground Committee under the chair of Keith Hoodock. Special thanks also to the then Chairman of the County Board of Supervisors, Tom Davis, who cut through the red tape to get additional funding and County support.
The playground is located behind the Old Virginia Hills School (see map). Parents should be present to supervise young children.
In addition to the equipment in the pictures, there are also picnic tables and port-o-lets nearby. Adjacent are the school's sports fields that are now used by youth athletic leagues and two tennis courts originally built for Virginia Hills. The playground backs onto Lee District Park.
In April 2001, the Citizens Association, in conjunction with Fairfax County and the Fairfax County Park Authority, added the 4-bay swingset to the playground.
